Lazy and unprofessional would be leaving false comments all over the interweb in hopes your business will pick up. Professional would refer to the shop putting you out of business. Save the weeping for your pillow.

Wrong "Inked Up Honkey". First off, I am not in the tattoo business. If I was where did I list the name of my tattoo shop? I went in for a custom piece and they got it completely wrong. Then, when I was scheduled for it to be fixed, they called and cancelled. I am only speaking for myself. They did a horrible job.

I would totally disagree with the above comments. My name is Terri Bartlett and recently suffered the death of my only child. I went in and spoke to Joel with a very heavy heart. I simply wanted the words I got This for my son and I on my finger. I know this was a very cheap piece for them to do but the entire shop treated me with compassion and sympathy. Joel made sure I got my ink done and with care asked me about the death of my son. After my ink was complete, Joel thanked me over and over and hugged me and passed on his condolences. This shop is number 1 in my book. They took care of both my ink and my heart. Terri Bartlett

good family is the only tattoo shop i will go to and trust. all my art has been very sentimental to me and any time i come in to get somthing done they take care of it and it comes out better than i ever expected. The shop is a clean, friendly place and I will not recomend anyone I know anywhere else, and I personally will never go to a differant tattoo shop. Going anywhere else would be a bad idea on any smart persons part, and the name definatly speaks for itself because it truly is a Good Family everytime I go there.

well for you as the customer, you should have piped up and said something BEFORE they tattooed it on you. They will only draw what you tell them too. If you dont like it then tell them and they will fix it! Dont come on here bashing them for your own fault. They are awesome and I would go back to them for every other tattoo I want. SO grow a pair and deal with YOUR mistake!

Although I have never revived a tat from these guys, I have Hung.out at the shop and have many friends that go. Once I have enough cash I plan on going myself. From what I've seen they do amazing word and r deffinetly not lazy. These guys r.so friendly and do great work. Fuck whoever is saying this bad shit. Get outta here with if negitive energy. been going here since they opened. it's crazy to see how much they have expanded and prospered in just a short time! whenever i stop in they are PACKED full of people getting and planning tattoos. they're absolutely amazing at what they do and truly care for their customers. very clean, professional and experienced. wouldn't chose any other place to make a permanent change in my life!

This is by far one of the BEST shops in the Midwest!! Clean shop, great vibe, and awesome artists! Joel is social and congenial, and Nate (who has done two pieces on me) does AMAZNG work (and I've gotten work done all over the country while I served in the Army!) There's a reason why this shop is booked out four weeks in advance!! If you're gonna troll some BS site and bash a shop like this...then you are a true douchebag! Call the shop if you're so unhappy, and let Joel attempt to make it right by you....but don't be a whiny internet troll posting on random sites, loser!

Good Family Tattoo is just that "Good Family" Extremely friendly, listen to what you want. Very Clean facility. I just wish I would've known of the Huff Brothers' earlier in my life, now I have them fixing other tattoo'ers lack of artist ability. I would and have recommended them to my family and friends! Great job all around.

If your looking for quality tattoos go no further. My personal experience with the atists of good family will ensure that I will be a customer for life. The quality and customization of the tattoos are unmatched. The artists take an interest with every piece they do and try to collaborate with customers to create something that they can both be proud of as an artist and a tattoo connoisseur. Most shops just care about money but at good family they actually try to be friendly and courteous to anyone who walls in the door. Whether its your first tattoo or you're looking for more work to be done this its the place for you. Giving good family a chance to please you will definitely not be a regret. Great work guys another satisfied customer!!!!

Good family is THE most professional shop I have been in. The first time i walked in there I really felt like part of the family, very friendly people, greeted with happy faces (didnt even say I forsure wanted to get a tattoo from them) Very clean, everything is very sanitary. The huff brothers know how to run a shop the right way :)

Who knows what this guy is talhing about? Everytime I go in there the place is clean and the staff are professional and welcoming. I have gotten 3 tattoos from them. One a custom sleeve, the other two lower arm and upper arm. So correct me if I'm wrong but don't they do a sketch of your custom piece on you befdore they ink you. So that way if you want anything changed you can before they get done to business. I think inked up honkey is right. Why not show us a picture of your messed up tattoo from them. Put it on facebook or whatever, until then stop leaving false statements and get a life.

Any bad words that are said about Good Family should be disregarded. I have had all of my tattoos fine by the guys up at Good Family. They have been nothing but absolutely wonderful people to deal with. The custom pieces that they have done for me have not only completely fulfilled my expectations but blown them away. The artwork that comes out of that shop is nothing less than excellent work! As the name says, Good Family, treats all of their clients as if they were family but also staying very business professional. I would never go any where else and will keep going back there! Good work guys!

Say what? Lazy? Yea no you're wrong they do some of the best ink in lake county, actually the best, plenty of my friends go there and their tattoos look raw, needless to say you must be jealous. I plan on going there ever since I seen the work they did on steven minkus and parker blain.

Good Familty is THE BEST!! I wouldn't go anywhere else for a tattoo!! I have been going there for quite sometime!! They are ALWAYS very friendly and welcoming when I go there and do GREAT work. My daughter goes there too!! They even go above and beyond the duties of a tattoo place. One day, my daughter was on her way to get a tat from Nate, she called to tell him to let him know she would be late. He actually went to her location, and helped her with her car, and make sure she was ok. I highly doubt that that is common practice with other shops!!! Suzy and Alexa love you guys!!!! <3

These gut are great. They have done all my tattoos. I wouldn't trust anyone else. They make you feel welcomed when you show up. They have several repeated customers and lots of new one. I'm in there all the time. They got so much different talent in there like the realism that Chris does Is amazing. And all the others guys do great work too. Would recommend going there and find out yourself. They are truly great people there and I know I'm going back a lot because my half sleeves are getting finished there. No one else will add work on my arm. Great people just go check them out yourself. And you will find the real answer you need!!

I've been going here since they opened and referred all my friends their shop is clean their friendly. I've gotten touch ups on tattoos from other shops and had them do custom work to all came out great and most of all they don't rape you on the price

Good family tattoo is amazing. I have been to two other shops and good family blew the both out of the water. I have a tattoo that was nonsence on my right ankle, i went to nathan at good family and he drew it on my ankle by hand and it turned out amazing. There shop is very welcoming, comfortabld and they are a great group.of artists. The shop is also very clean and organized. This is the only place that i will refer anyone to now.

Lovely. Always get great work done for a price that works for me. Phenomenal people, open, accepting and real. And for the people that say that they got a piece wrong. You saw the preview, don’t be an idiot. They draw up the design before putting it on you. It’s common sense. To blame them for you approving and getting a piece that didn’t look as great on your body as much as you thought it would is clearly YOUR fault. Don’t blame them for your insecurities.

Zen Master I have (so far) two pieces from GOOD FAMILY that I absolutely love, best art on my body by far! I have also gone in with 15+ family members and friends who ALL also LOVE the work done by GOOD FAMILY! We will not walk into another shop!!! I have spent many hours there and the guys and gals ALL take their work very serious and i cannot see how you could've possibly had such an experience. They speak with each person that walks through the door as an individual and they take the time needed to make sure they understand exactly what you want done. Also you have the entire place wrong...they want you to come in with different crazy creative ideas, custom pieces (that they are VERY capable of making badasssss)...they enjoy and love putting real art on OUR BODIES not something printed off google. Finally LAZY, they allllll are no where near lazy! Aside from their AMAZING WORK....GOOD FAMILY is the most welcoming, upbeat, and fun shop around and everybody knows it! Can't get enough! LOVE YOU GUYS!

Good Family is the only place I would ever go to get a tattoo or piercing! They are professional in every aspect: cleanliness, skill, and friendliness. Friendliness is actually an insult to them.. They are family to anyone that walks into that door! Amazing work on tattoos and piercings. I would never recommend any other place. Ever. I have gotten a piercing and tattoo from them already and have brought in 5 friends to get piercings from them. I am planning on getting another piercing and 2 more tattoos from them. I would love to see who you go see cause Good Family is twice if not three times better than they are in every aspect of work. The Huffs and other tattoo artists will always be known as the best in my eyes, ans I'm sure tons more agree with me. End of story.

Went here for 2 tattoos and had an amazing time! I am horrible with pain and Joel took the time with me needed for my first tattoo from them over a year ago! I get compliments all the time on that one and it's never been touched up! Went in again this past July and got my other tattoo fixed by Henry. Brought my mother along and she loved the place! This place is the place to go of you want solid quality tattoos. They take the time to get it right! I shopped around for over a year for my first tattoo I got from them and it's not an easy tattoo with a lot of color and detail and Joel got it perfect! I will be coming back for more as will my mother who has recommended the place to everyone she knows! Thanks Henry and Joel for making this place feel like home when I come in!

We all remember our first tattoo and/or piercing, the feeling of anxiety, nervousness, and how excited you are. You have a million thoughts rushing through your head as you sit in the chair and wait...these feelings are replaced with happiness, smiles, and a calming feeling when you walk into Good Family Tattoo. Everyone there greets you with a smile, they are so interested in your ideas and creativity. I could not have asked for a better place to get my many piercings and tattoos. They are CHEAP, yet CLEAN, and wicked awesome! I would recommend this shop to anyone that I knew who wanted an amazing tattoo or piercing. I love this shop! I got a $50 custom tattoo by joel n it was more than amazing and worth way beyond wut I paid! I also have two other tattoos that I got from the shop and they turned out perfect. I have been to so many tattoo shops and not only are they the best at doing tattoos and piercings they are so wonderful to be around. They welcome any idea anyone could possibly think of and they are all around amazing people. I would never go anywhere else for a tattoo. I love the atmosphere and the attitude everyone has there. I feel as welcome at Good Family as I do in my own home because that's exactly what they are, good family. I have no complaints about the employees or the shop and I know I never will. I will continue to reccomend them to everyone I know interested in getting tatooed or pierced as they will not have a better experience anywhere else.

Everytime I have gone here, they were firstly, very welcoming and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. They were each working on their own piece, but took time to come and greet me. I had a few ideas as to how I wanted to design my daughter's initials. Thankfully, Henry and Nate were able to take my idea and make it a million times better. For it being so small, it has such personality to the tattoo. I love this place and everyone who works here! I would recommend them in a heart beat, I will never, ever, let anyone ink me besides these guys.

First off "Zen Master" there is a difference between getting the wrong tattoo and getting a fucked up tattoo. I can can almost guarantee that whatever tattoo you got there looks great. I've personally had 2 done at Good Family, and they both phenomenal. This is not just me talking either, I've had multiple people, sometimes random strangers, tell me they like the work, and then ask where I got it done. Now you might say, "well the design is completely different that what I had envisioned!". If that's the case then it's your own fault you don't like your tattoo. The two I have had done there (both of which are medium to larger, and have color with great detail) are both custom. When I went into the shop to look at the concept that was drawn up, i was asked not once, but twice if I liked it, and if not what changes I would want to make. I really liked the concepts, so i didn't request any changes to be made. When everything was said and done, I was more than pleased with the work the artist had done, and paid the very affordable price we had previously agreed upon. I would recommend Good Family to anyone who wants good work, and affordable price, and friendly, clean atmosphere. Countless friends/acquaintances/random people i know have gone there, and have had the same experience as me. If, however, you would like to go somewhere and over pay someone that's going to treat you like just another customer, than maybe its not the place for you. If your not an inbred moron though (i.e. zen master) you'll make the right decision to go to Good Family.

I've sat multiple sessions at Good Family w/ Chris on a lion that takes up an entire shoulder which is the start of a back piece and it blows everyones mind. Funny thing is that it isn't even complete. We are also working on a sleeve as well. I won't go any where else ever!!! Clean with good tunes too.

This place is the best in Lake County! My son recently turned 18 and wanted a tattoo. I have to admit I was hesitant but at 18 he no longer needed his parents permission. We had no idea about this shop. We walked in and were pleasantly surprised! It is SUPER CLEAN and the TATTOO ARTISTS ARE AWESOME!!! Joel,Hank and Nate all worked with us to ensure my son got what he wanted and not a crappy ink job!!! It was such a great job my son went back a few days later and got a SECOND tattoo!!! Then my niece came for a visit all the way from Colorado and wanted a piercing so off we went to Good Family Tattoo. She was so happy with her consultation. She did not hesitate to get her piercing. It is obvious by talking to the people who work there it is not just a job for them. It is TRULY a family and they go above and beyond to listen and treat their clients like family :) !!!!

You losers all suck!!! I travel 300 miles to get a tat from Good Family tattoo!!!! They are super sweet guys, and always very professional~~~I have never had a problem with them and I send all my friends there...they do great work!!! Listen, Zen Master, if you had an issue with Good Family then you should be a man or woman and take it to them directly and not post your BS on a website. Had you taken it to the owners they would have made it right because they are MEN not sniveling little bitches. I'm sure anyone else reading this site will see all of the other posts and know that this guys a joke probably works at one of those other shops that can't hack it. "You can act like a man."

Hands down the BEST tattoo shop in the area! I've had two tattoos done there. And both are awesome!! The shop is one of the cleanest I've ever been in. Everyone who works there is friendly. I've recommended them to family and friends and no one has been disappointed yet. I'll never go anywhere else!!!

I had an amazing experience. I went in there with a custom design, and the Huff brothers did some redisgning to my design (they made it larger and added more detail). They asked me how the new design looked, and I like it more than the original. To top it off, they only charged me a few dollars more for it. I'm also really impressed with the atmosphere. It was well lit, the staff was lively, and Joel Huff was hilarious. I felt extremely comfortable while I was there. Although I'm not planning on getting another tat, I'd love to stop by to say "Hi". I'd recommend Good Family Tattoo to all of my friends who are considering a tat or piercing.

Zenmaster you couldn't be more wrong.....these guys are do awesome custom work, I've got three custom tatts from them and everyone of them were tweeked by them due to placement, size and color. Its not just one artist carrying the shop either they all rock and work together and aren't afraid to have you talk to a different artist if they think they could do better. I agree with inked up honey i think zenmaster is one of the failing shops in the area that cant keep up with the huff brothers, that was pretty sneaky zen .....leaving your shop name off the post so you look credible....if i was you i would practice your skills and ask for an apprenticeship with good family.....im sure you would be to busy making cash to waste time posting lies on the Web....nice pick up truck by the way

This place is GREAT!! Everyone is always friendly and professional. Every person I have ever seen in this shop leaves with a smile. These guys would never ink anything that a customer didn't approve of first. IF you don't like it they don't either. To say a custom piece is "completely wrong" would be almost impossible, even at other shops I have been to, the customer has to approve or say yes to the art. These guys are well known for fixing other artists mess ups. I would go anywhere else for ink or a piercing. LOVE Good Family!!

I'm a 50 year old that has recently had quite a bit of work done with Good Family Tattoo, let me tell you they are the best around. As far as custom work they are unmatched with care and concern. Be aware though that you don't just walk in and expect a custom tattoo, they don't work that way. You need to give them your idea, let them work with it, let them draw it up, they will have you back to review it and make changes that you see fit, then and only then will they continue with your appointment. I had one piece done that had huge personal meaning to me, Henry knew this and my piece became as important to him as it was to me. Don't go somewhere get a crappy job done and then go see Good Family to fix it, just go there to begin with and you will love the results. If you want a quick hurry up just give me something tattoo then they may not be for you. They are artist, not fly by night guys with a tat gun, they are truly artist from the pre planning to the final touch up. I have a Bob Marley tattoo done by Henry that has won numerous awards and been in magazines, in fact it is one of the most viewed Bob Marley tattoos at www.checkoutmyink.com and has been for almost 9 months. I will always continue to recommend these guys and send any of my friends and family there because they are what they say GOOD FAMILY!

I have been there twice. Once to get my industrial pierced once for tattoo. Joel huff Dodd my industrial, his exact words to me before I got it were "most people thank me for doing their tattoos and piercings but I thank YOU got trusting me with your body.". The second time I went in there to get a tribute tattoo for my son. Nick had done it and it was hands down the most beautiful and amazing tattoo I could possibly ask for. They have by far exceeded any expectations I have ever had. out of 5 stars, I rate them12. Their place IS clean and the people who work there treat you like royalty. They are great to say the least. I would and have recommended to anybody looking for a piercing or tattoo.

never had a problem with good family, they have done right by me every time I go into the shop. yes, sometimes its a little crazy or busy in the shop and people have to wait an extra hour to get something done but joel has always been kind. people are so impatient for something that is going to be with them the rest of their lives. they are expanding the shop and personally, like watching the place so busy with people, even if I have to wait an extra hour to get in the chair. They have even fed me once or twice, granted I have spent a lot of money there on my chest and rib tattoo and have had a lot of sessions there getting to know them. Plus they re-did my girlfriends piercing for free because she didn't like the placement after 2 days. Everyone in the industry is pretty critical of each other but from a fair standpoint all my work has been done well and been priced fair.

All of the artists in the shop are top notch. I went in there quite a few months back to have a claymore back piece designed, and the drawing that I was shown at the half way mark was absolutely awe-inspiring. I just felt awful when I was called up for duty with the NG and couldn't actually have that beautiful piece of art inked on my back. The shop is ALWAYS clean, and every last person you meet there, even if they are just hanging out, is welcoming and super easy to talk to. This really is one of the few tattoo shops that make you feel like you've known them for years, even after meeting them for just the first time! To Zen Master: I'm not usually one to bash people or play the "my sticks bigger than your stick" game over the internet, but when it comes to how you are knocking this shop because your tat drawing, male genitalia isn't a good idea for a tat design to begin with, didn't turn out quite the way you hoped, and the "fix session" had to be cancelled is a load of bull.. You have to be willing to bend a little when it comes to scheduling, etc. This shop produces some of the best work I've ever seen, and they have the return customer base to prove it. I think I speak for a large majority of the customers of Good Family, when I say.... Just disappear, waaaaayyyy back into the void that is the interwebz and don't bother trying to spread that filth anywhere else, because we'll see and we'll be there to counter every try! Joel, Nate, Henry, John, EVERYBODY at Good Family, keep up the amazing work. I know when I'm actually back home I'll be in to get that masterpiece of a back tattoo inked!

Walking into Good Family I can always count on a clean shop, smiling faces, and good energy all around. There is an artist here for everyone's needs. They are all exceptionally talented and harbor a unique style so anyone seeking quality, custom, work is sure to walk out of there with full expectations met. As long as I live in Illinois I wont go to anyone else. And it really surprises me that anyone could have a bad thing to say about this shop or any of the work they produce. This is the kind of shop that commands a certain level of respect because no one in Illinois comes close to giving you the talent, quality, and cleanliness that good family does, ontop of their already easy going attitudes.

I have been to quite a few tattoo around the states, none of which act in such a professional manner as the guys at Good Family. They also treat it like it is a real job unlike some artists ive dealt with in the past, if its not showing up on time or calling you to reschedule because they partoed to much the previous night. They are the most professional shop ive been in, as well as having the most fun while in shop for spme work. When walking in the door you get a greeting almost immediately by atleast one of them. The shop itself is also extremely clean. Nothing there that makes you think "well i dont know if i want a tattoo in a place like this". These guys are cool as hell, incredible art work, as well as running a great business in an awesome environment. HIGHLY recommended. Great work!

I own a hair salon and have been doing hair for 25 years ~ I know this for a fact....no matter how good you are, there is always someone that you can't make happy, no matter what you do. The ones that leave reviews are having an extreme point of view either on the good side or the bad side.....the ones who are thrilled with their ink go about their business and stay loyal customers. I have seen the best work come out of Good Family Tattoo and whoever has a problem with them should of taken it up with them.....not the whole world.....that shows you that this customer is not trying to resolve the problem, and the only thing they know how to do is whine. Otherwise they would not have had to come here and bash Joel & Henry, 2 of the nicest inkers around! Maybe if they stopped whining for a bit, they would have the tattoo they REALLY wanted. Whoever you are, you have a mouth, why not say something before they finished, instead of waiting to come here and do something that will get you nowhere???? Grow up.

Joel has not only done one of the best custom Tattoos I have ever had, he also fixed someone else's horrible work at a shop that is supposed to be good. I would highly recommend these guys as artists and professionals.

Good family tattoo is one of the most welcoming places ever, after i made the mistake of letting a wana be tattoo artist touch my skin(of course it was horrible) the only people in the world i would trust to "fix it" is good family. I was so embarrassed to even show it to henry but he made me feel completely comfortable & assured me it could be covered up in no time. And im no master of pain, more like a baby and i moved around constantly and never once did henry complain or say anything negative to me just gave me postive feedback on how great i was doing. Good Family isnt just a tattoo shop, it truely is a place where you feel like "family" when you there. Joel & Henry are one of the funniest, caring, creative & talented tattoo artists i have ever seen. Everyone should go check it out you wont regret it i promise

I wouldn't go anywhere else. The quality of work is unsurpassed. It took me years of looking for just the right place and level of artistry for my first ink. I wasn't going to let just anybody work on me. Good Family Tattoo did not disappoint, and, in fact, exceeded all of my expectations. I now have the most beautiful work of art emblazoned on my skin for the rest of my life, and I couldn't be more proud to show it. Highly, highly recommended!

I have never felt more accepted and encouraged. The guys at Good Family Tattoo do great work and are excited to work on your artwork. I've shopped around just because I figured it would be a good idea to get other artists on me, and every time I go back to Good Family because nobody else around does as good a job and for such a modest price. The second you walk in there its like you're at a friends place. I couldn't be happier with the artwork that's tattooed on me, and I couldn't think of a better place to get it done than Good Family Tattoo.

They are the best guys! I have gone to them for both of my tattoos and I couldnt ask for anything better! The Huff brothers are awesome. Every time I go in they make me feel like part of the family. Henry did an awesome job on my ink! Every friend I've recommended to them has had no complaints at all. These guys are always excited to hear any ideas for ink and always have great feedback and input. These guys are definitely my home shop and I wouldn't have it any other way. Not bad customer service, it's actually terrible! Not professional. Don't go here unless you want to feel like one of the "herd." They definitely don't treat you like you matter to them! Oh well, what's "One more customer" to them? After they treat enough of us like that, and they start getting slower and slower, maybe they will finally get it!!!! I was going to back to get my tattoo over 2 weeks ago and after thinking about it, decided to find another place. Their work looks good, but they need to lose the attitude.
